Harrison Lake park earns service award

5/3/2004

Harrison Lake State Park in Fulton County is one of 10 state parks across Ohio to receive Service Excellence Awards from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

The awards were determined by more than 10,000 surveys completed last year by park visitors. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 the highest score, Harrison Lake near Fayette received a 4.7 rating.

The 142-acre park received high marks for its campground, which offers yurts - canvas structures on wooden platforms - for rent. It has nearly 200 regular campsites.

The park features a 105-acre lake where anglers can catch bluegill, large-mouth bass, northern pike, and catfish.

The park gets an estimated 200,000 visitors annually. Winning awards is nothing new for the park; six times in recent years the campground and park has won state park awards, based on comment cards filled out by campers.
