FOREST, Ohio - An 83-year-old local woman was killed yesterday when a car and a tractor-trailer collided in Hardin County, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Alice Cavin, a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

Marion Cavin, 81, her husband, who was the driver of the car, was taken to the same hospital, where his condition was unavailable. The driver of the semi, John Kearns, 40, of Rushsylvania, Ohio, was not taken for treatment.

Troopers at the patrol's Findlay post said the accident occurred at 9:45 a.m. after Mr. Cavin, who was westbound on Jackson Township Road 60, failed to stop at a stop sign at Hardin County Road 205. Mr. Cavin's car went into the path of Mr. Kearns' rig, which was southbound on the county road.
