Bones on Oregon shore ID'd as those of Canadian

5/11/2004

Bones found last month along an Oregon shoreline were identified yesterday as those of a Canadian commercial fisherman who was swept overboard his fishing boat in Lake Erie about 18 months ago.

The bones were identified as those of Rogerio Maurecio, 59, of Ontario. They were found April 27 along Bayshore Road. The bones included the man's lower jaw with a tooth, a few arm bones, a leg bone, and pelvis, said Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a Lucas County deputy coroner.

Mr. Maurecio was swept overboard the morning of Nov. 2, 2002, south of Colchester, Canada, and drowned.
