Stryker seeking new bids on waste-hauling services

5/14/2004

STRYKER, Ohio - Stryker leaders will rebid their contract for a waste hauler after alleged problems were uncovered with their current operator over the dumping of recyclable materials.

Gary St. John, village administrator, said he's drawing up bid specifications this week, which will call for interested applicants to agree to produce monthly dumping statements to local leaders.

Last month, an employee of Werlor Recycling Center in Defiance showed a video at a solid waste district board meeting in which employees of Tri-State Waste were seen dumping Stryker village recyclables into an area landfill.

Tri-State has been paid to pick up trash as well as recyclables. Every household has been assessed $3.15 a month for recycling pickup.
