SANDUSKY - The Sandusky City Commission has promoted assistant city manager Michael Will to Sandusky's top administrative job.

Mr. Will, 32, will become city manager on June 1 and work side-by-side for three weeks with Gerald Lechner, who is retiring June 25. Mr. Will was chosen Thursday over two other finalists, former city commissioner Richard Jeffrey and James Sennish, a former city employee who is human resources director for Erie County.

Mr. Will's salary has not been set. Mr. Lechner, a former police chief who has worked for the city for 39 years, is paid $90,000 a year.

Mr. Will became assistant city manager two months ago and also is the city's economic development specialist.
