The blaze was real. So was the equipment. But the event was staged in the name of fire-safety education. Steve Asmus, left, of The Anderson's in Maumee, and Ray Hixson, of the West Alexandria, Ohio, Fire Department, practice extinguishing a gasoline fire at the BP Oil Refinery Fire Field in Oregon last week as part of the State Fire School, which conducted some of its training at the refinery. The participants were trained in several fire situations with different types of equipment.
