The driver of a van who led police on a 45-minute chase before traveling the wrong way on I-475 and crashing into a pickup truck early yesterday was charged with six felonies.

Shawn A. Barney, 36, of East Toledo remained in Toledo Hospital last night and is to be taken to Lucas County jail when he is released, Toledo Police Detective Steve Applin said.

Mr. Barney was charged with felonious assault, aggravated vehicular assault, two counts of fleeing and eluding, and two counts of assault on a police officer. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license and a red-light violation.
