Lucas County agency gets disabled workers grant

The Lucas County Workforce Development Agency has received a $200,000 grant to help people with physical and mental disabilities find jobs.

The grant, announced yesterday by the U.S. Department of Labor, will be used to hire at least one employee who will assist people with disabilities find work and also will supply funding for worker assessments and community outreach, according to Eric Walker, director of the county's Workforce Development Agency.

Mr. Walker said some of the disabilities include blindness, deafness, mental illness, and substance abuse.
