Kelleys hosts festival

7/23/2004

Let the party get started tonight when Kelleys Island opens its annual Islandfest, a weekend full of music, dancing, and more.

The first event will have people dancing in the streets, when a DJ plays dance tunes starting at 7 tonight in Kelleys Island Memorial Park.

The festival will pick up with a parade at 11 a.m. tomorrow, followed by a waterfront crafts fair, live music by area blues bands, and a fireworks display, with the day's events officially concluding at 11 p.m.

Among the musicians performing this weekend will be Anne E. DeChant, a Cleveland-area singer-songwriter who will be in concert at 8 tonight and tomorrow in the Kelleys Island Brewery.

On Sunday, Islandfest 2004 resumes at 11 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. Among the festival activities will be more live music, food, beer, novelties, and a dream-vacation raffle.

Kelleys Island is about 50 miles east of Toledo, just north of Marblehead in Lake Erie. To get to the island, take State Rt. 2 west to State Rt. 269 North, State Route 163 into Marblehead, where the Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line operates.
