Lake Township: Trustees OK insurance

7/29/2004

The Lake Township board of trustees renewed its insurance policy with Hylant Administrative Services Inc. last week for $78,481.

They expressed relief that the policy's price tag had only a $3,552 hike from last year's rate.

"We want to grab this and run," trustee Richard Welling said.

"This is a significantly lower increase than in the past. We'll approve this and be happy."

He said that in 2002, the price the township paid jumped by about 40 percent.

Last year the township saw a 10 percent increase in insurance costs.

The new general liability policy will go into effect on Aug. 2 and will insure the township's employees, volunteers, equipment, buildings, and property.

Other trustee business last week included:

●Approval of a $418 contract with Williams Detroit Diesel-Allison, 3325 Libbey Road, Lemoyne, Ohio, to provide annual preventive maintenance and six months operational inspection services on the emergency power generator in the township's administrative building.

●Accepted two grants, totaling $3,854.53, from Ohio Public Safety's Division of Emergency Medical Services. The township will use the money to fund EMS training and to purchase airway equipment for the fire department.

●Accepted Heather Heffran as a new member of the Lake Township Fire Department.
