BOWLING GREEN The city police division is looking for volunteers to walk through near-downtown neighborhoods on Friday and Saturday nights this fall to help deter criminal activity.

Applications from year-round residents and Bowling Green State University students for the Citizens On Patrol program will be accepted through Sept. 1. Volunteers must be at least 18, have no criminal record, and complete a four-hour training session.

In the COP program, volunteers are equipped with two-way radios that they use to report suspicious activity to police.
