State honors Maumee for restoring theater

Six Ohio communities received Governor s Awards for Excellence in Housing and Community Development last week.

The winners, which included Maumee and Delphos and the Vanamatic Company in Allen County, were selected by the Ohio Department of Development s Office of Housing and Community Partnerships.

Maumee was chosen for the award because of its efforts to restore the historic Maumee Theatre, which is at Conant Street and the Anthony Wayne Trail.

Delphos helped Vanamatic Company, an automatic screw machine shop, build a larger facility in the city s industrial park and purchase machinery and equipment. Thirteen jobs were created by the expansion.
