Area in Lima nominated for historic site register

8/7/2004

LIMA, Ohio - The Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board voted yesterday to recommend the stately homes that make up the West Market Street Boulevard Historic District be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The nomination will be forwarded to the keeper of the National Register and reviewed to determine whether it meets the criteria necessary for placement on the register.

The Market Street historic district, which extends from Woodlawn Avenue to Glenwood Avenue, was nominated "as a local reflection of early 20th century trends in suburban development, for its architectural significance, and for its association with many prominent Lima citizens of the early to mid 20th century."
