WOODVILLE - The driver of a pickup truck was injured yesterday after his vehicle became sandwiched between two tractor-trailer rigs on U.S. 20, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Mark Lazar, 27, of Toledo was taken to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo, where he was listed in fair condition last night.

The two semi drivers were not injured.

Troopers in Fremont said the accident occurred at 1:34 p.m. on U.S. 20, just west of Woodville, when an eastbound semi driven by Clifford McCartney, 49, of Coral, Mich. rammed into Mr. Lazar's eastbound pickup.

Mr. Lazar's pickup, which was stopped at a construction zone, then struck a semi driven by Roy Nichols, 58, of Marietta, Ohio, which was in front of Mr. Lazar's pickup.

U.S. 20 was closed until 4 p.m. because of the wreck.

Mr. McCartney was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
