8/24/2004

Northwest Airlink, operated by Mesaba Airlines, announced a sixth daily flight from Toledo to Detroit Metro Airport, with service beginning Oct. 31.

The added flight departs Toledo at 3:20 p.m. The five daily flights now depart at 6:40 a.m., 10:36 a.m., 1:20 p.m., 5:45 p.m., and 7 p.m. and are scheduled as 40-minute and 45-minute trips, gate to gate, depending on the particular flight, the airline said.

Northwest Airlines has seen a 10 percent increase in passengers from Toledo Express Airport over last year, from 41,097 to 45,355, said Airports Director Paul Toth. Before Sept. 11, 2001, Northwest ran 10 daily flights to Detroit. To boost the market here, Northwest travelers from Toledo Express are awarded a minimum of 1,000 frequent flier miles from the airline and upgrades to first class on select flights.
