Woodville: Village to negotiate gas rates for residents

9/15/2004

Village officials recently approved entering into an Interstate Gas Supply contract for a gas agrigation program.

Voters approved of the program last fall, which gave the village bargaining power with IGS - the new supplier - to try to negotiate better gas rates for residents, said Village Clerk Beth Zajac.

"By negotiating with a large group of people, you hope to get a better rate for residents in town," she said, adding that residents can either join or opt out of the program. "We're hoping to try and save our residents some money on their gas bills."

The village hopes to have everything in place for the program to start by Nov. 1.
