Frontier crafts near Findlay

The Frontier Arts & Craft Fair has a new location this year, but organizers haven't changed the formula that's been drawing people for more than three decades.

The 33rd annual fair sponsored by the Historic Preservation Guild of Hancock County takes place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Camp Berry, located at the intersection of State Rt. 68 and County Road 40 south of Findlay. The change of site was made in order to provide better parking, said guild spokesman Janice Sartore, noting that last year's event attracted about 4,000 people.

Approximately 150 craft exhibitors and demonstrators will participate, she said. Crafts will include sand art, decorated pumpkins and gourds, cross stitch, folk art, dried flower wreaths, hand-poured candles, wooden doll furniture, holiday items, bird houses, stained glass, and quilts.

Demonstrations will include wood carving, broom making, book binding, basket weaving, china painting, quilting, pottery making, and weaving. New this year will be demonstrations of rope making.

Music, children's activities, and plenty of food also will be available.

The guild uses proceeds from the fair for historic preservation and public education in Hancock County.
