MONROE - The city of Monroe has announced a reorganization of several departments and new appointments, City Manager Debbie Manns said.

The former community development and planning and the building and zoning departments have been joined to form the department of development services.

The new department, which will be directed by Benjamin Tallerico, will handle blight enforcement, building inspection, permits, zoning and site plan reviews, and historic preservation, Ms. Mann said.

Meanwhile, the department of engineering and utilities, headed by Director Don Link, who is retiring, has been split into two departments.

Patrick Lewis, former city traffic engineer, will direct the engineering department, while Barry Laroy will head the new water and utilities department.
