Memorial set for terror victim

HILLSDALE - A community memorial service for engineer Eugene "Jack Jr." Armstrong is set for noon Oct. 5 at the sports complex on the Hillsdale College campus at College and Oak streets here. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m.

The Hillsdale native was abducted with two other men this month from their home in central Baghdad by a militant group and later beheaded.

The service is being organized by the city of Hillsdale. Community leaders, elected officials, and a local pastor are to speak. Performers will include the Hillsdale College choir, bagpipers, and the Hillsdale High School Orchestra.

The city of Hillsdale is accepting expressions of condolences that will be forwarded to the Armstrong family. Memorials can be made out to the Armstrong Memorial, care of the Hillsdale County Community Foundation.
