GRAND RAPIDS, Ohio - A Canadian truck driver was ticketed but not hurt yesterday after his tractor-trailer crashed on U.S. 24 near the Grand Rapids bridge, Lucas County sheriff's deputies said.

Sylwester Czyz of Mississauga, Ont., was driving east when he lost control on the first curve east of State Rt. 578 in Providence Township about 3:25 p.m., deputies said. The truck went off the road and into a ditch.

Removal of the wrecked truck required the use of heavy equipment, which closed the road for about two hours beginning at 6 p.m. No other vehicles were involved, deputies said.
