Vial of arsenic from school lab found in sewer

FOSTORIA - Authorities yesterday recovered a vial of arsenic that came up missing Oct. 13 from a science lab at Fostoria High School, police said.

The vial, containing less than a gram of the deadly poison, was recovered intact from the city's storm sewer system, police said.

None of the chemical was introduced into the water.

The vial, which was being used in a first-period science class, was reported missing by a school secretary.

Students passed vials of it and other substances around as they discussed various elements of the periodic table.

When the teacher asked that the vials be returned, the arsenic was missing, Tim Grine, the school's interim principal, has said.
