Area recycler's conservation work honored

10/29/2004

A Bowling Green plastics recycler yesterday was among several groups and individuals recognized by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for their conservation efforts.

Phoenix Technologies LLC received one of the agency's Cardinal Awards, as did Shyamala Chitaley, curator of paleobotany at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and David Culver, a Lake Erie researcher at Ohio State University.

U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R., Navarre) and the late John Davey of Kent, Ohio, a pioneer in tree care, were inducted into the Ohio DNR's Natural Resources Hall of Fame. The hall, established 38 years ago, has 135 inductees.

The awards were announced during a ceremony at Quail Hollow State Park in Stark County.
