Collision of ATVs hurts 3 in Ottawa County

PORT CLINTON - Two Ottawa County men and a teenager were hurt Tuesday when the all-terrain vehicles they were riding collided in Bay Township.

Arin L. Dooley, 21, of Port Clinton was eastbound on Little Portage Road about 11:35 p.m. when he slowed near the intersection of Mulcahy Road and was hit from behind by another eastbound ATV driven by Joshua A. Kohlman, 19, of Port Clinton, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Both ATVs flipped end over end, throwing the drivers and James Jacob Lee Hefflinger, 16, of Port Clinton, a passenger on Mr. Dooley's ATV.

Mr. Hefflinger and Mr. Dooley were flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Yesterday, Mr. Hefflinger was in critical condition and Mr. Dooley was in serious condition. Mr. Kohlman was treated in St. Vincent.

None of the three riders was wearing a safety helmet, according to the highway patrol.
