Hancock County OKs campus sewer extension

11/25/2004

FINDLAY - Hancock County commissioners have approved a sewer extension to the new Owens Community College campus here. The extension, approved Tuesday, will require about 30 property owners to be assessed as much as $5,200 a piece.

Commissioner Steve Oman, voted against the $965,000 project, which many residents along the proposed line on Bigelow and Crystal avenues had objected to.

While some argued it would be wiser to install a sewer line directly from the Lowe's Distribution Center on County Road 212 to the new campus, county Engineer Steve Wilson said the city preferred the route from Lowe's to Bigelow and Crystal avenues because more property owners would be able to tap into the sanitary sewer.
