Oregon mulls purchase of 20-acre Edison parcel

With an eye toward one day developing the Cedar Point Industrial Park, Oregon City Council discussed spending $150,000 to buy a 20-acre parcel of land from Toledo Edison Co. at last night's committee of the whole meeting.

The 500 acres near Corduroy and Lallendorf roads that make up the industrial park is all zoned for industrial growth, and the parcel - near Corduroy Road east of Lallendorf Road in the heart of the park - would bring the total amount of land in the park controlled by the city to 100 acres, City Administrator Ken Filipiak said.

He said the parcel, which will be bought with money from a capital improvements fund, has utilities available and puts the city in a position to be ready for development.

"We've developed 100 acres in 10 years and we want to continue that momentum," Mr. Filipiak said.

Council plans to vote on the ordinance at its Dec. 13 meeting.
