Maumee man faces enticement charge

A Maumee man who drove around Maumee allegedly offering rides to young girls was charged Thursday with criminal child enticement, police said.

Aaron Pfleghaar, 21, of 806 Johnson St., was arrested after an 11-year-old reported that a white male matching the suspect's description, driving a red sports car, pulled up to her about 8 a.m. Monday as she was walking to Gateway Middle School along Sackett Street near Farmington Drive.

"Come here, look at my car. Do you want to go for a ride," police said the man asked, reaching out of the car as if trying to grab the girl. She ran behind the car, and the man parked and watched her as she walked to school.

On Thursday, Maumee Detective Tim Roberts saw a red sports car driving in the same neighborhood, followed it, stopped it with the help of Toledo police. The suspect admitted to confronting the girl as well as other younger girls numerous times over the last year, police said.

He allegedly told the detective none accepted a ride, and he was "unsure as to what he would have done" if they had.

He was arraigned in Maumee Municipal Court and released on $2,500 bond.
