BOWLING GREEN

  • Spend a winter's afternoon drinking tea and preparing native seeds for the upcoming growing season. Friday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Otsego Park at State Rts. 235 and 65. Call the Wood County Park District to register.

    PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP

  • Owens Community College will hold "Rapid Registration" for its spring semester this week at the Perrysburg Township campus on Oregon Road. Today through Thursday, students can register for classes from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday; and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. A list of classes is available at www.owens.edu. Spring classes begin Jan. 10.

  • Hike around the W.W. Knight Preserve from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday to see the distinctive features of winter weeds and other out-of-season plants. Call the park district to register.

    SANDUSKY

  • Cedar Point's live entertainment department is conducting auditions, casting calls, and interviews for entertainers and technicians for next season. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow in the Cedar Point rehearsal studio. Applicants must be 18 by May, and should bring a one-page typed resume. Audition selections will be limited to 16 bars of music.

    TOLEDO

  • The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library will sell used children's books, videotapes, and audio cassettes tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Sky Bank meeting room at the main branch, 325 Michigan St. Also, storytelling will be held at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., and there will be children's activities throughout the day. Admission is free.

  • Janet Jones, recently retired director of the Maumee Senior Center, will be the featured speaker at the American Legion Post 335 weekly noon meeting on Friday at the Toledo Club, 235 14th St.

  • The Toledo Astronomical Association will hold its monthly meeting and holiday party at the home of Frank S. Merritt on Friday. Members and their families are welcome. The association requests a $15 donation.

  • The Toledo Astronomical Association will hold an educational seminar at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ritter Planetarium on the University of Toledo campus. Topics include how to operate a telescope, what one can reasonably expect to see, and photographing through a telescope. Owners of smaller telescopes are encouraged to bring them.
