Rossford starts recycling trash-collection program

1/12/2005

A new solid waste and recycling collection program will begin today in Rossford.

Waste Management of Ohio Inc. now will pick up an unlimited amount of recycling weekly, instead of every other week. Recyclable items include aluminum, tin, and steel cans; cardboard; magazines and catalogues; phone books; newspapers; glass bottles and jars, and plastic bottles and jugs.

Mayor Bill Verbosky, Jr., said residents seem to have embraced the new program, as demonstrated Saturday when city officials gave out more than 320 recycling bins at the city's kickoff event.

Trash will continue to be picked up each Wednesday, but residents will be limited to having three containers of trash picked up, instead of an unlimited amount. Residents will be allowed one bulky item - a couch or stove, for example - each week.
