Fostoria to kick in funds for generator

1/13/2005

FOSTORIA - Fostoria will have to spend slightly more than $5,000 to buy a backup generator for the city's water treatment plant because the low bid for the equipment exceeds the federal grant for the purchase.

City officials had estimated the generator's cost at $54,260, the amount of a Homeland Security grant approved last year for Seneca County. But the bid from Ohio Cat Co. of Perrysburg came in at $59,378.

Mayor John Davoli said the city would proceed with the purchase anyway, making up the difference from Fostoria's water infrastructure fund.
