1/15/2005

LIMA, Ohio Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be in town Wednesday to begin determining if Allen County qualifies for federal aid stemming from last week s ice storm.

FEMA officials will be at the Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center downtown at 8 a.m. to meet with local officials.

Allen County EMA Director Russ Decker said yesterday that damage and cleanup costs on public property have been estimated at $5 million. Township, city, and county crews have been working overtime to clean up fallen trees and other debris from the severe storm, which initially left 37,000 customers in Allen County without electricity.

Mr. Decker said FEMA officials will head to Hardin County after the stop in Lima.
