Wauseon: Council members plan for re-election

1/26/2005

All three Wauseon City Council members whose terms expire at the end of this year say they will run for another four-year term.

Council President Karen Krumm was the first to file her petition with the Fulton County Board of Elections last week. Doug Shaw has taken out a petition and Jeff Stiriz said he plans to do so. All are in their first term on council.

No challengers have requested petitions. If seven or more candidates run for council, there will be a run-off on the May 3 ballot. But if the number is six or fewer, the council race will not appear on the ballot until Nov. 8.

Such run-offs are rare in Wauseon. A run-off among seven candidates in 2001 has been the only run-off in recent years. The filing deadline for candidates and issues for the May ballot is Feb. 17.
