Woodville: Council appoints new member to fill vacancy

1/26/2005

Village Council appointed a new councilman to fill a vacant one-year council position last week, and recently elected a new council president for 2005.

After interviewing three people, council decided to appoint Woodville resident Monte Porter, who works for the Northwest Community Corrections Center in Bowling Green, to fill the position vacated by former Council President Robert Meyer, who resigned last month to retire, Clerk-Treasurer Beth Zajac said.

Council also elected Councilman Gerald Kepus, who is serving his second term, to serve as council president for 2005.

Mr. Porter, who was appointed 4-1 with Mr. Kepus opposing, will be sworn in at council's Feb. 7 meeting, Ms. Zajac said.
