Douglas Ellet of Sylvania, a member of Boy Scout Troop 154 sponsored by First United Methodist Church, received his Eagle Scout rank after earning 29 merit badges and completing an Eagle project.

His project involved designing and constructing six picnic tables for Sylvania Area Community Services, as well as preparing the site. Doug is a senior at St. John's Jesuit High School.

Phillip Hampton, a member of Boy Scout Troop 101 and a senior at Anthony Wayne High School, recently earned his Eagle Scout rank.

His Eagle project was to build new softball dugouts at the Anthony Wayne Middle School.

Phil has received the Arrow of Light award and achieved Star Scout in 2000 and Life Scout in 2001.

He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 2001

. He has served as senior patrol leader for his troop and has been camp counselor at Camp Pioneer for the past four years. Phil has also been on a back packing trip at Philmont Scout Reservation in Cimarron, N.M.

Alexander Curavo of Northwood, a junior at Lake High School, is one of the top five scorers in Ohio for the Automobile Association of America's Travel High School Challenge, an online test for high school students on world geography.

Alexander is eligible to take the state level proctored written test scheduled March 1 to 3. State level winners will advance to the national test to be given May 7 to 10.
