PIONEER, Ohio - Madison Township trustees in northeastern Williams County are asking voters for more than $278,000 to buy a new fire truck.
Trustees on Tuesday filed a new, 3.6-mill, five-year fire protection levy with the county board of elections for the May ballot.
Township leaders want to replace a 25-year-old fire truck with a new truck that would have more pumping capacity, Trustee Darold Huffman said.
The levy would raise almost $55,700 a year at an annual cost of $110 to the owner of a $100,000, owner-occupied home.
Such a homeowner now pays $1,294 in total real estate taxes, of which $144 goes to the township.
