Dial-a-ride to suspend expanded bus service

3/1/2005

TEMPERANCE - Lake Erie Transit will suspend its expanded dial-a-ride bus service in Bedford Township until the end of this year after discovering that language in a ballot measure passed by voters last year says the money can't be collected until December.

LET began operating its second dial-a-ride bus in December, 2004, and in the process increased ridership by more than 50 percent within Bedford Township. But because of the error, the service will resume its single-bus schedule beginning Monday, general manager Mark Jagodzinski said.

LET will resume its former operating schedule of offering point-to-point rides between the weekday hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and will continue to offer twice-daily service to Westfield Shoppingtown Franklin Park, Mr. Jagodzinski said.
