Whitehouse losing administrator

3/12/2005

Randy Bukas, administrator for the village of Whitehouse since 1996, is planning to leave his position this spring to take a job with a village near Dayton.

Mr. Bukas said he will be off the village payroll as of May 11, and is taking his accumulated vacation time beginning April 1.

In his new job, which will allow him to be closer to family members, Mr. Bukas will manage the village of Germantown, Ohio, located southeast of Dayton. The village has more than 5,000 people, so it will be classified as a city in the next census, Mr. Bukas said.

During his nine years working for Whitehouse, Mr. Bukas helped oversee the creation of the Wabash Cannonball Trail for biking and walking, construction of a new municipal building, expansion of the village's fire station, many street improvements, and getting water from Lucas County.

Before coming to Whitehouse, Mr. Bukas worked as an administrator in municipal governments all over the Midwest.

Until Whitehouse hires a replacement for Mr. Bukas, Finance Director Linda Snyder will act as interim administrator, Councilman Bill May said. He said the village will soon begin advertising for a new administrator.

"We're not going to rush it," Mr. May said. "We've been without an administrator before, and the village will go on."
