Ohio EPA to accept data on asphalt plant permit

3/18/2005

BOWLING GREEN - The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will accept public comments until March 28 about a permit it has under consideration for the proposed Shelly Materials production facility in Clay Center in Ottawa County.

A public hearing may be scheduled if significant public interest exists.

The company has applied for a permit to modify the plant at 3997 Genoa-Clay Center Rd. The change would allow the use of alternate fuels, including natural gas, fuel oils, and used oil in asphalt production. If approved, the fuels would be burned to operate the plant's rotary drum dryer, which is used in the asphalt mixing process.

Written comments may be sent to Jan Tredway, Northwest District Office, Ohio EPA, 347 North Dunbridge Rd., Bowling Green, OH 43402.
