Section of U.S. 6 to close for bridge, culvert repair

3/18/2005

FREMONT - A section of U.S. 6 east of Fremont in Sandusky County will close for two months starting Monday for replacement of a culvert and a bridge, the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced.

During the shutdown, workers will replace a culvert at Buehler Ditch, just east of Township Road 202, and rebuild a bridge at Pickerel Creek, between Pearson Road and Yorktown Road.

Traffic will be detoured via State Rt. 53, State Rt. 2, and State Rt. 269, which will add 10 miles to a motorist's trip. U.S. 6 is scheduled to reopen May 27, if weather permits the construction to be finished on time.

The $658,000 project is being done by R&I Construction of Tiffin.
