Oregon officer injured as cruiser hits 2 poles

An Oregon police officer suffered minor injuries yesterday when he lost control of his police cruiser and struck two utility poles while on his way to assist another officer at a domestic violence call, police said.

Ryan Spangler, a probationary officer who has been with the department for almost a year, lost control of his cruiser about 9 a.m. when he failed to round a curve on Otter Creek at Bay Shore roads.

The cruiser struck one pole before careening across the road and hitting the other pole, most likely totaling the car, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
