FOSTORIA - Plans for an early childhood education center are progressing, with the project's architect unveiling a building design that resembles a vintage railroad station.

Project Manager Arlen Lowery said the center, which received a $1.85 million state grant last year, will include eight classrooms for Head Start and other preschool programs and a satellite office-medical facility for the Seneca County health department.

Construction of the $2.5 million center is expected to begin along Lytle Street by midsummer and be completed a year later, Mr. Lowery said.

The building was designed to reflect Fostoria's rich railroad heritage while serving the needs of dozens of children from Hancock, Seneca, and Wood counties, he said.
