Wood officials talk to O-I execs on tax incentives

3/24/2005

Wood County officials met yesterday with Owens-Illinois executives to discuss tax incentives offered to the company if it relocates to Levis Development Park in Perrysburg, even though the company hasn't committed to moving its headquarters out of downtown Toledo.

The 40-minute meeting was at O-I's offices at One SeaGate.

"Our conversations were conversational in tone," but the company made no commitments to move its headquarters to Perrysburg, John Alexander, Perrysburg's city administrator, said.

Perrysburg City Council recently approved offering O-I some incentives, including property-tax abatement and reimbursement of some payroll taxes, estimated to be worth $6 million over the next 15 years.
