FREMONT

  • The Sandusky County Park District will sample water quality and teach visitors about aquatic habitat at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wolf Creek Park Canoe Launch, south of Fremont off State Rt. 53.

    MONROE

  • The Monroe County Republican Executive Committee will host its annual Lincoln Dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday at LaRoy's Hall, 12375 South Telegraph Rd. Guest speaker is U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R., Brighton). Cost is $35.

    SANDUSKY

  • The Sandusky County Republican Women will host a spring banquet Thursday at 6 p.m. at Fremont Country Club, 2340 East State St. Guest speaker is state Rep. Mary Taylor (R., Green). Cost is $25.

  • Cedar Point will conduct walk-in interviews for summer jobs at the amusement park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Breakers Express Hotel, 1201 Cedar Point Drive.

    TOLEDO

  • Dave Schwensen will speak on "How to be a working comic" during the Rotary Club of Toledo meeting at noon today at Zenobia Shrine, 1511 Madison Ave.

  • The Medical College of Ohio will start its "Mini Med School" at 7 p.m. tomorrow . The seven-week school on various medical topics, which meets every Tuesday, is free and open to people of all ages.

  • William H. Deardurff will offer his eyewitness account of the invasion of Okinawa during this week's Friday noon luncheon of American Legion Post 335 at the Toledo Club, 235 14th St.

  • The Toledo Astronomical Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the fourth-floor classroom of McMaster Hall on the University of Toledo campus. Professor Philip James will make a presentation on exploring Mars.

  • A program aimed at increasing awareness about child abuse and prevention will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at The Toledo Club, 235 14th St. The event is sponsored by the National Exchange Club.

  • A Spring Show reception is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Toledo Artists' Club Gallery in the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive. The event will feature demonstrations by Toledo Women's Art League members, refreshments, and awards, and is open to the public. The show of 44 paintings will remain in the gallery until April 28.
