Corey Road bridge closing starts Monday

4/7/2005

State officials have revised the scheduling of repairs that will close the Corey Road bridge over I-475 in Sylvania Township for a second time, with a 12-day closing now scheduled to start Monday.

During the closing, the two freeway ramps at Corey will remain open, but traffic on Corey will be unable to pass over I-475. Detours using Corey, Central Avenue, and Talmadge Road will be posted.

Traffic that uses the eastbound I-475 exit to go to Westfield Shoppingtown Franklin Park will be affected, but the return route from the mall to the freeway's westbound side will not.

Work on the Corey bridge was to begin March 10 but was pushed back to reduce the risk of weather-related trouble. Ohio Department of Transportation officials initially announced a new start date of April 25, but contractor Sandusky Bay Construction has now moved it up by two weeks.
