Wauseon: Council delays spring cleanup

4/6/2005

City Council has delayed its annual spring cleanup to April 29-May 7, back from the previously announced April dates.

The cleanup was moved back because the original dates were the same as Delta's cleanup and Delta and Wauseon use the same trash hauling service.

The annual spring cleanup allows city residents free, unlimited drop-off of large refuse items at the city street department on Cole Street. Typically included are appliances and furniture, but not tires, batteries, yard waste, paint, or other building materials.

City Council's plan to spend $9,000 for a custom-made table to seat six department heads and two news reporters at its council meetings has been put on hold because residents questioned the expenditure.

Councilman Ivan Hite said at this week's council meeting that "a number of people" had questionned the estimated cost of a new black, L-shaped table that would replace three tables used now.
