Four people, including two Toledo firefighters, were hurt yesterday when a rescue vehicle on an emergency run was hit by a car at Laskey and Jackman roads, police said.

Firefighter Jay Yingling, 43, who was driving the rescue vehicle, and Lt. Jeff Edwards, 44, both of Station 18, were treated at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

The car's driver, Brittany Turner, 20, of Hill Avenue, was treated at Toledo Hospital. Her passenger, Christina Berry, 21, of Algonquin Parkway, was treated at St. Anne Mercy Hospital.

Mr. Yingling was westbound on Laskey about 7:40 a.m. with the emergency lights and siren activated on the sport utility vehicle. Mr. Yingling pulled into the Jackman intersection and was hit by Ms. Turner's northbound car. She was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle and a license plate offense. Ms. Berry was cited for not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The rescue vehicle was headed to the 1600 block of Kennerly Drive to assist a person with a diabetic problem. That person was assisted by other emergency personnel, fire officials said.
