State troopers and firefighters examine the remnants of a burned car on Airport Highway after it crashed with a tractor-trailer rig yesterday afternoon, killing the car's driver.

A 17-year-old Monclova Township boy was killed and three people were hurt, two of them seriously, yesterday in a fiery collision of a car and a tractor-trailer on Airport Highway, just east of Toledo Express Airport, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Robert C. Anderson, of 3054 Pebble Court, the driver of the car who was trapped in the wreckage, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kayla King, 16, and Amber Ankenbrandt, 15, passengers in the car whose addresses were not available last night, were in serious condition last night in Toledo Hospital.

Michael G. Major, 36, of North Judson, Ind., the driver of the semi, was treated in St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee.

The Anderson youth's car was eastbound on Airport about 4 p.m. when it was cut off by a green newer-model Camaro with a T-top with three male occupants in their late-teens. Young Anderson then lost control of his car, which went left of center, crashed into the oncoming semi, and caught fire, troopers at the patrol's Toledo post said.

Miss Ankenbrandt got out of the car quickly, but Miss King, the front-seat passenger, was trapped in the wreckage for a short time and then crawled out a window.

Troopers arrived at the scene and put out the fire with extinguishers.
