Perrysburg man injured in crash on State Rt. 65

4/13/2005

A 22-year-old Perrysburg man was hurt seriously yesterday when his car veered off State Rt. 65 just north of Roachton Road in Perrysburg Township and hit a tree, authorities said.

Adam Peckinpaugh was listed in critical condition yesterday in Toledo Hospital.

Mr. Peckinpaugh was driving north on Route 65 between 3 and 4 a.m. when his car went out of control while it was rounding a curve and struck a mailbox and a tree.

The force of the impact wrapped the car around the tree, pinning Mr. Peckinpaugh inside his vehicle, authorities said.

The Ohio Highway Patrol received a call about the crash about 5:30 a.m., officials said.

Personnel from the patrol's Walbridge post, the Perrysburg Township police and fire departments, and the Wood County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

Officials spent more than two hours getting Mr. Peckinpaugh out of the wreckage and kept the road closed until 9 a.m.

Lt. Dean Laubacher of the patrol's Walbridge post said authorities are still investigating the crash.

The lieutenant said Mr. Peckinpaugh admitted that he had been drinking, and troopers are awaiting the results of blood tests to determine his alcohol level.
