Test of sirens slated for Davis-Besse area

OAK HARBOR, Ohio - More than 50 sirens within 10 miles of FirstEnergy Corp.'s Davis-Besse nuclear plant will be sounded for three minutes at noon today, the Ottawa County Emergency Management Agency said.

Forty-nine of the sirens are in Ottawa County. The rest are in Lucas County's Jerusalem Township. All 54 are normally are tested for one minute on the first Friday of every month.

Today's test is longer to comply with federal certification requirements, EMA officials said.
