Halliburton confirms death of Toledo man in Afghanistan helicopter crash

A civilian contractor from Toledo who was reported missing after a military helicopter crash last week in Afghanistan has been confirmed dead.

Halliburton Co. informed family members Friday afternoon that Sy Jason Lucio, 27, perished in the April 6 crash of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, the man's stepfather, Terry Neff, said yesterday.

Mr. Lucio, formerly of Clyde, worked in Afghanistan since January as an electrician for a Halliburton subsidiary. He was among 18 people killed in the crash, which occurred 100 miles southwest of the Afghan capital of Kabul.

The victims included two other Halliburton employees and 15 U.S. soldiers.

Mr. Neff said funeral arrangements, which are being handled by the Neville Funeral Home in Toledo, were incomplete last night.
