LEIPSIC, Ohio If a resident of this Putnam County village hits the lottery, the village now will get a share of the winnings.

Council adopted an ordinance Monday night that makes lottery and gambling winnings subject to the village s 1.5 percent income tax.

A 1996 Ohio Supreme Court decision ruled that unless a municipality specifies that lottery winnings are subject to a local income tax, villages and cities are not allowed to collect.
